The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) invites quotations from suitably qualified and experienced contractors for the supply, installation, commissioning and testing of replacement Roof Light Smoke Ventilation Systems at HMP Edinburgh and HMP & YOI Polmont.
The existing smoke ventilation systems at both sites have been assessed as beyond economic repair. The actuators that control the opening and closing of the roof light vents are no longer available on the open market, making like-for-like component replacement impossible. As a result, all three units are currently non-operational, presenting a potential risk to life and a risk of non-compliance with current fire safety legislation.
