The services comprise the provision and management of catering operations within custodial establishments, including the preparation and provision of meals for prisoners and, where required, staff and visitors. The scope of services includes menu planning, food procurement and supply chain management, dietary and nutritional management, kitchen operations, stock management, food safety and hygiene compliance, and the management of catering facilities and associated support services.
The contract also includes the provision of prisoner employment, training and skills development opportunities within catering operations, supporting rehabilitation objectives and the development of transferable workplace skills.
The services are integrated with prison operational regimes and security requirements and are essential to the safe, secure and effective operation of the establishments.
The modification provides for the continued delivery of these services to ensure uninterrupted service provision whilst the Ministry of Justice Property Transformation Programme completes the development, procurement and mobilisation of a future delivery model that will replace the existing arrangements. The contract has been awarded to the incumbent supplier, Aramark, to maintain safe, compliant and operationally effective catering services during this transitional period.
This contract is a continuation of the existing service arrangements and has been awarded to the same supplier for the reasons set out elsewhere in this notice. The modification does not alter the overall nature of the services being delivered. |
