All Age Carers Project

Every year ordinary people of all ages take on the exceptional responsibility of caring for someone as the number of people with chronic and life limiting and long-term illness increases. Caring will touch the lives of most people.

Across Telford and Wrekin approximately 18,000 people recognise themselves as having a caring role for a family member, loved one or friend.

This Service will play an important role in responding to Telford and Wrekin's All Age Carers Strategy 2024, it will support the delivery of the four key areas of focus identified as priorities for delivery:

• Support unpaid carers in Telford and Wrekin to have good physical, mental health and wellbeing
• It will work alongside community neighborhoods to develop an all-age approach to support carers across the borough
• Work in partnership with carers and the wider community to promote a carer-friendly borough
• Empower and co-produce with carers to drive change across the borough.

Whilst our Strategy is a commitment to carers of all ages, it is recognised the support provided has to be adapted to best meet carers needs, therefore this service specification has been developed so that it articulates the different models of support and guidance between Adults and Young Carers, whilst also noting and acknowledging that key elements of the service are the same for both Adults and Young Carers.
