Description
Sexual health services in England are commissioned within a national statutory framework. Local authorities commission comprehensive open-access sexual health services, including sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment, partner notification, most contraception services, HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) testing and a range of prevention and outreach activity. Some related and specialised elements are commissioned separately by integrated care boards and NHS England, requiring providers to work effectively across organisational boundaries.
