1The Specialist Weight Management Service is commissioned to provide a service that will: •enable the delivery of high quality, timely and integrated patient-centred care whilst tackling existing inequities in services across the county. •use resources more effectively to deliver excellent care to patients and to reduce waiting times. •support patients to manage their own weight and empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices and to make lifelong changes with regards to diet and exercise. •wThe Specialist Weight Management Service is commissioned to provide a service that will: •enable the delivery of high quality, timely and integrated patient-centred care whilst tackling existing inequities in services across the county. •use resources more effectively to deliver excellent care to patients and to reduce waiting times. •support patients to manage their own weight and empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices and to make lifelong changes with regards to diet and exercise. •work with patients to understand and address the interplay between the biomedical, psychological and social factors influencing their weight. •reduce the risk of long-term disability and unemployment and healthcare spending associated with excess weight. •increase the range of pain management services available, improving access and supporting patient choice. •ensure that feedback from patients and the public are used to guide the transformation and ongoing improvement of the service. •Provide holistic, multidisciplinary care including dietetic and psychological support for patients. •Provide access to pharmacotherapy where clinically appropriate and in line with relevant national guidelines. This includes monitoring and management of patients on medications. •Where appropriate, the provider will identify other step down pathways to support patients, which may involve collaborating with local providers of weight management programmes. These may be offered to patients within the follow on intervention. A contract has been awarded following a direct award process B in accordance with Regulation 8 of The Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The initial Contract period is 1 year from 01 August 2026 - 31 July 2027 Duration: 1 year This notice has been published by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
