Description
Strengthening Cultural Capability and Trauma Informed Care in Women’s Health
The work has a specific focus on three linked problems: women not being listened to, the under recognition and normalisation of procedural pain, and the disproportionate impact of both on women from the Global Majority.
Aims and objectives:
- To improve how the women’s health workforce listens and responds to women, recognises and acts on pain, and delivers culturally competent care.
- To build lasting training capacity in every NHS England region rather than deliver a one off national course.
- To give integrated care boards practical guidance so they can sustain local delivery and commission further work in this area themselves.
- To ensure the programme is shaped by the experience of the workforce and by what women have told NHS England, including women from Global Majority communities and women from the Core20 population.
- To leave NHS England owning a complete and refreshable set of materials that can be updated as the capability framework develops.
