The fleet supports a wide range of frontline, statutory and operational Council functions, including waste, roads, winter maintenance, passenger transport, grounds, housing, fleet maintenance and general Council operations. The fleet includes refuse collection vehicles, gritters, buses, sweepers, light commercial vehicles, cars, specialist vehicles, plant, trailers, internal combustion engine vehicles, hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles. Some vehicles and assets are depot-based, while others operate from remote or dispersed locations across the Council area. The Council’s current telematics arrangements provide reporting on areas such as vehicle utilisation, idling, speeding and driver behaviour. As the Council’s fleet and operational requirements continue to change, the Council is seeking to understand the current market capability for a modern, scalable and future-ready corporate telematics solution. The Council is looking to procure a solution that can support occupational road risk management, fleet compliance, driver safety, operational efficiency, asset utilisation, decarbonisation, EV transition planning and improved management information. The future solution should be capable of supporting a complex mixed fleet, including specialist vehicles and plant, while providing reliable data, flexible reporting, appropriate privacy controls, role-based access, integration options and effective support arrangements. The Council is therefore seeking expressions of interest and engagement with potential bidders, in advance of publishing an Invitation to Tender, for new service provision
