Description
DESNZ is seeking supplier(s) to deliver research on opportunities for effective and responsible research and/or deployment of non-CCS reliant GGRs, including biochar, enhanced weathering (EW) and marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR), over timescales relevant to meeting our carbon budgets and net zero targets.
The programme will provide targeted evidence for near-term policy milestones, examining:
the real-world performance of these GGRs;
approaches to monitoring, reporting and verification;
suitable UK conditions for research (mCDR) and deployment (biochar, EW), and feasible UK-specific delivery pathways;
and associated barriers, opportunities, risks and benefits.
Given the breadth of technical expertise and range of anticipated methods required (e.g., evidence review and synthesis, stakeholder engagement, pathway development) and outputs (e.g., briefings, databases, case studies, teach-ins) DESNZ anticipates a consortium of suppliers will deliver this research.
